CONSPIRACY CHARGES.
ABANDONED BY CROWN. Received May 10, 1.5 p.m. SYDNEY, May 9. The Crown has decided not to proceed with the conspiracy charges arising out of the affairs of Cheapleys; Limited, against Albert Ellisdon, Harry Roden, Morris ' Kutner and Harry Levy. The remainder of the defendants were acquitted during Police Court proceedings. Nine men were charged at the Central Police Court at Sydney with conspiracy to defraud a dumber of wholesale warehouses. The firm with which the men were connected, Cheapleys, Limited, which has gone out of existence now, was alleged to have bought huge quantities ot merchandise from warehouses and sold at ridiculously low prices to retailers. The firm's losses for five months were said to be over £40,000.
