FAMOUS AIRMAN.
L. D. PIPER AT BLENHEIM. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, May 10. Flying Officer L. D. Piper, who is en route from Christchurch to Auckland, arrived at Blenheim at 3.15 o’clock .after a forced landing at Spotswood, through engine trouble. He was accorded a civic reception, and was welcomed by officials of the Aero Club and a large crowd. There also arrived at 3.32 o’clock Pilot Mehyre, of the Canterbury Aero Club, in a moth. Flying Officer Piper will leavo tomorrow for Auckland and Pilot Mehyre for Christchurch.
