The southbound Main. Trunk express, consisting of 14 carriages and two vans, drawn by two engines, was an hour and a quarter late in leaving Palmerston North to-day. The delay was caused by the unwieldy nature of the train. An unfortunate accident befell Mr Victor ‘Williams, who is employed bv the Hauraki Plains County Council. He was operating a tractor on the Puhanga Canal Road, when it overturned, with the result that he susitained a compound fracture of the leg.
