APITI.
(From Our Own Correspondent). APITI, May 9. A long cortege followed the mortal remains of Hugh Leslie McKenzie (Bat) to his place of interment at the Apiti cemetery on Thursday afternoon. A parade ot Oddfellows, of which lodge he was a member, headed tho procession of mourners, followed by a largo muster of the local returned sodliers. An impressive service was conducted by Rev. Mr Murray, after which Brother A. McMurtry read tho burial service of Oddfellows’ rites. A firing party composed of Troopers H. Roberts, G. McKuy, D. Strachan and L. Patterson, under the command of Quartermaster J. McMurtry, fired a farewell salute. Tho ceremony concluded with the sounding of the “Last Post.” Many beautiful floral wreaths and tributes were forwarded, conspicuous among which were two glassed wreaths, one presented by the Apiti Sports Club and another from the returned soldiers.
