SOCIAL FUNCTION

FAREWELL TO MR G. SCORGIE. A social evening was held in the club room of the All Saints’ Bible Class Union last evening, in honour of one of their most popular members in the person of Mr Gordon Scorgie. The room was artistically arranged with shrubbery intermingled with toi toi bushes. Coloured paper streamers were also in evidence. Mr Scorgie, who leaves to take up an appointment in Wellington, has been a most energetic worker in the interests of the club. He has upheld the traditions and principles of the Bible class in a most worthy manner, and he has set a high standard of sportsmanship for the younger members. In presenting Mr Scorgie, on behalf of the Bible class, with a set of hair brushes, Rev. Mr Neild said that they were very sorry to lose such a fine member. He had been associated with the club since its inception and had been a vital part of the club. They would all agree when he said that Mr Scorgie wa6 a thorough gentleman. Ho wished him every success in his new sphere of life. Mr Scorgie, in replying, said he was very sorry to leave the club and its environments. One thing ho wanted the juniors to do was to continue to carry out the work he had always tried to do. In conclusion, Mr Scorgie thanked the members for their token of appreciation. Later in the evening, dancing was indulged in, the girls’ Bible class members joining in the farewell to Mr Scorgie. Mr J. Sandman carried opt the duties of M.C.
