The visitors have put in considerable practice on the links. The Victorians showed, it seemed, rather better form than the Sydney men, doing the rounds in the low 70’s. The rain on Friday must have been welcomed by the greenkeepers. The fairways have had no water for many weeks, and the turf needs rain badly. The best golf played at Shirley during the past few days has been that of E. M. Macfarlane. He has done at least one score under 70, and to-day in the strong wind ho completed a round in 70 —the best card of the day, and' a remarkable score under the conditions prevailing. Black, Macfarlarto and Ross all know the Shirley course well. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIPS. DATES FIXED FOR OCTOBER. MANAWATU~CLUB’S OFFER , ACCEPTED. * Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 14.
