ROAD SCIENCE.
(By Telegraps—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Apnl 12. A number of road foremen and overseers employed by local bodies throughout New Zealand have passed examinations set by the Main Highways Board to test their knowledge of modern road construction. A further examination is to be held later. Candidates have to demonstrate their knowledge of the various foriris of road construction, materials, and the best methods of maintenance. They are also required to read bridge and and other plans. This test is being encouraged not only by the board, but by most of the local .authorities, as it leads to more effective work and more economical methods of construction and maintenance of the roads of the country.-
