(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, April 10. Mr G. Woods and Miss N. Woods, who sustained injuries in tho motor accident on Sandon Road on Sunday, are reported to bo making good progress towards recovery. Miss I). Saunders, who has been spending a holiday in Foxton, is at present on a visit to Airs T. Saunders, of Glen Oroua. A pleasant Bocial afternoon was spent by members of tho Methodist Ladies’ Social Guild in tho scholroom yesterday afternoon, when Airs J. Chrystall was hostess. Business in connection with tho arrival of newly appointed minister was atended to. A competition was won by Airs Riches., Afternoon tea wa3 dispensed. Tho following will represent tho Foxton soniors against Shannon on Saturday:—J. Huff, Hartley, Thompson, Procter, Stevonson, Barnes, Moses, Androws, Renata, Richardson, McGregor, Carter, Fuller, Harrison, Vertongen, Gavin, Wilson. Yesterday attornoon tho Foxton Surf and Life Saving Club’s newly formed football team took tho field for tho first time in a friendly gamo with Oroua Downs at the Downs. Tho match was keenly contested and very oven. At half. time no scoro had been registered by cither side, but in the last spell M. Aloffatt grounded tho leathor and converted his effort, placing Oroua Downs five points up. Tho home team sportingly refused to take ar.y notice of tho call of “time" at tho end of tho gamo and played on an extra ton minutes in order to allow Foxton to oven tho scoro. This they failed to do, however, and Oroua Downs addod another six points when Moffatt and Scott scored. The gamo ended: Oroua Downs 11, Foxton nil. Mr R. Scott refereed. Yesterday afternoon two rinks from Shannon paid a visit to tho local greon to take part in friendly play. Aitchison and Walker (skip) gaming a decision over Reay and Warwick '(Bkip). Owing to tho threatening weather on Wednesday morning tho .committee decided to abandon the garden party arranged to bo held at tho residence of Airs S. Austin and conducted a sale of gifts in tho Town Hall supper-room. Dock quoits (won by s£ss Stovenson) and a nail driving competition (won by Mrs J. Thomson) created keen competition and much amusement. Afternoon tea was dispensed. Tho committoo (Alcsdamcs Perreau, S. Austin, J. K. Holmblow, W. E. Barber and W. Smith) wore assisted by Mesdames R. Bryant Cecil Robinson, Stan Barber, Alisses Sewoll, Bowo and Elsie Barber. Tho rccoipts were £l3 15s lid. There was shown to-day a very intricate and interesting picco of handiwork designed and completed by Air L. Shaiior, of Foxton Beach, in tho form of a draughts board, with an intricately designed surrounding, tho wholo being composed of a variety of Now Zealand woods carefully laid together. Tho work measures 60 by 20 inches. Tho woods used in tho design consist of totara knot and kauri for the draughts board, with totara knot, honeysuckle, blucborry, silver birch, red birch, silver pine, kawaka, matai, rata and rimu worked in a definito geometrical design as a border.
