HISTORIC KORU PA.

RESTORATION PROPOSED. PARAPETS FACED WITH STONE. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 10. Following an inspection of the historic Koru Pa by a party representing the Taranaki Automobile Association, steps are to be taken to restore it. The pa, which is nine miles from New Plymouth, is a fine example of the old-time terraced pa. It ■has a remarkable feature in that the outworks and parapets are faced and strengthened with stonework taken from the bed of the Oakura Stream. The pa was found to be in a great state of disrepair, being overgrown and damaged by picnickers. An effort is now being made by the Automobile Association and the New Plymouth Tourist and Expansion League to raise funds to permit the Scenery Preservation Board to restore it.
