LEVY ON SALARIES.
AUSTRALIAN SCHEME. HUGE ANNUAL RETURN. Received April 10, 10 a.m. SYDNEY, April 10. The Government’s scheme to impose a levy on wages and salaries is estimated to return between £2,000,000 and £3,000,000 a year. It has not yet been decided what the rate will be, but Ministers suggested that twopence or threepence in the £1 be imposed, with a larger rate on larger salaries.
