MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING. GIORGI CUP TO NANCY. The Manawatu Whippet Racing Club’s autumn meeting at the Sportsground yesterday proved a popular attraction, there being a good attendance of the. public. The racing was interesting, close finishes constituting a tribute to the handicapping of Mr F. Aisher. The following officials controlled the meeting: Judge, Mr L. Giorgi; starter, Mr W. Shirriffs: marshal, Mr S. W. Oliver; steward, Mr E. Wateon; secretary, Mr L. G. Oliver. Results were as follow: Graham Hurdles, 150 yards.—First heat: Glen Belle (9yds.) 1, Kiltie (12) 2. Also started: Gold Dust (4). Second heat: Humour (12) 1, Domino (14) 2. Also started: Nanette (1), Old Tom (4). Final: Mr A. V. Oliver’s Kiltie (12) 1, Mr H. Good’s Humour (12) 2. Also started: Glen Bello (9), Domino (14) In a great race Kiltie won from Humour by a head. Glen Belle and Domino fell when in winning positions. Autumn Handicap, 150 yards.—First heat: King Colo (15) 1, Glen Fern (7) 2. Second heat: Giggles (18) 1, Sanette (11) 2. Third heat: Miss Australia (5) 1, Red Star (12) 2. Final: Phillips and AVoodward’s King Cole (15) 1, Mrs L. Giorgi’s Giggles (18) 2. Also started: Glen Fern (7), Sanette (11),. Miss Australia (5), Red Star (12). The finish was very close, a yard separating the field at the winning post. King Cole won by a head with the third dog a neck away. Spring Hurdles, 150 yards.—J. AVatt’s Old Tom (4) 1, G. Remington’s Glen Belle (9) 2. Also started: Gold Dust (4), Humour (11), Kiltie (10), Domino (14). This was the best race of'the day. All the dogs jumped the last hurdle together, and in a thrilling finish Old Tom got up in time to beat Glen Bello by a head. Giorgi Lightweight Cup, 150 yards (for dogs 22lbs and under) —First beat: Nancy (12) 1, Katinka (13) 2. Second heat: Te Cleve 1, Stage Girl' (11) 2. Final: Mn C. Houseman’s Nancy (12) 1, Phillip and AA’oodward’s Te Cleve (11) 2. Also started: Katinka (13), Stage Girl (11). Nancy shot to the front from the start with Te Cleve in front of the rest. In the run to the post, Nancy lasted long enough to beat the fast finishing Te Cleve by a head. After the race, Mr G. S. Iteminglon presented the handsome silver cup, donated t>£ Mrs L. Giorgi ; to MrHouseman, owner of the winner.
