FLYING OFFICERS.
NO CIVIC RECEPTION. MAYOR OF~AUCKLAND’S STATEMENT. . Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 10. So far no civic reception has been .arranged in Auckland for Flying Officers Piper and Kay (who are due here from Sydney on Tuesday), the first New Zealand born airmen to fly from England to Australia. ' The Mayor was approached by a deputation from Mnngere, Mr Kay’s home district, but Mr Baildon (the Mayor) refused the request for a civic reception. “This is becoming now an everyday occurrence and I,really' don’t see the necessity for it,” he replied.
