BULLS.
RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, April 9. The committee of the Rangitikei Racing Club met in Bulls on Monday evening. Present: Messrs J. H. Perrett (chairman), J. E. Walker, D. W. Wilson, F. 0. Bailey, E. A. Caldow, J. Tricker, Rex. McKelvio and G H. Archer. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs W. S. Penny, J. B Johnstone, J. H. Whisker, R. Mackay and A. W. Amon. Mr A. W. Amon was granted nine months leave of absence, leaving thi3 week on a visit to England. Correspondence wa3 received as follows: From Mrs R. Stevens, thanking members of the club for expressions of sympathy in her bereavement. From the New Zealand Racing Conference regarding the rule that entries for racds must be confirmed in writing' within seven days. From the Bank of Neta Zealand advising a further rise in tho bank rate of interest. From the stipendiary steward, Mr B. Sandilands, enclosing a copy of a report of tho recent meeting forwarded to the Racing Conference. From the Department of Internal Affairs regarding a grant of 11 per cent, on £20,000 put through the totalisator. Racing dates: It was decided to apply for March 4 and 5, 1931, for the next annual race meeting. Farm committee’s report: The farm committee reported that since last meeting 118 lambs had been sold for £lO3. One hundred and fifty-three ewes had been sold for £133 17s 6d; a draught gelding for £2; and a heifer for £8 10s. One hundred and ninety-nine ewes had been purchased for £202. Four tons of manure had also been purchased. Course committee’s report : The course committee reported. that owing to the number of horees which arived by “floats” only 44 boxes were used, and. at, the accommodation house only 47 beds. The caretaker was congratulated on the good state of the courso, grounds and flower gardens at race time. Tho committee was pleased to report that the last race meeting was held under most favourable weather conditions. There wero good fields, and the racing was most interesting. The various officials carried out their duties promptly and capably, which contributed to the success and smooth running of the meeting. GENERAL. The Bulls Town Board meets on Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs R. Thompson returned on Monday after spending a holiday in the South - Island. '
