FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
REVIEWED. The monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held yesterday, Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presiding. Also present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., Bryant, Blenkhorn, Perreau, Kellow and Edwards. . The Horowhenua Electric Power Board advised that the erection of another street lamp at Manawatu Heads had the attention of the engineer. . ; The Harbour Boards’ Association wrote recommending an amendment to the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, respecting the matter of local bodies reimbursing themselves out of special rates collected. Mr W. S. Dustin advised that he had transferred his property at Manawatu Heads to Mrs Vile. Accounts totalling £385 11s were passed for payment. The secretary submitted the following financial statement for the six months ended March 31: —Receipts: Gash in hand October 1, 1929, £393 2s 9dj pilotage, £122; river lighting, £46 10s; wharfagt, in, £934 Os Id; out, £165 7s 2d; ships’ dues, £l3 Os 6d; rents, £3OO 12s lid; road contributions, £62 11s Id; miscellaneous, £72 18s 6d; differential special rate, £65; debit balance as at March 31, £654 16s 7d. The principal items of expenditure, which amounted to £2879 19s 7d, were as follow:—Salaries, £429 ss; maintenance and repairs, £36; plant, £6O 15s 6d; office and general expenses, £6B 8s handling, £453 17s 6d'; miscellaneous, £257 17s lid: insurances, £56 4s 6d; interest, £420; overdraft at October 1, 1929, £1067 6s 2d. The income for the past month'was £326 13a 7d, the principal sources being: Wharfage,, in, £l9B 13s 4d; rent, £53 16s 6d; pilotage, £2O 6s 8d; wharfage, out,'£l9 Is 2d. Expenses totalled £286 19s 7d, leaving a credit balance of £4O 14s.
