LIQUOR AFTER HOURS.
CASE AT LONGBURN. FINES IMPOSED. Charges of selling liquor after hours and of exposing liquor for sale on March 16 were preferred against Thomas Ormsby, licensee of the Junction Hotel, in a case heard before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Mr Cooper entered a plea of guilty on behalf of defendant. ' Sergeant Hill stated that he had not over-burdened the prosecution with charges dealing with individual sales. The Magistrate: I don’t know that you would obtain a penalty for each separate case, although there is noth-ing-to prevent me from entering a conviction. Sergeant Hill stated that there were five men in the bar-room and it was alleged that four had been supplied with liquor. Defendant was fined £5, with 12s costs, on the first charge, the seoond being withdrawn. Fines of £2, with 12s costs, were imposed on Richard Learmonth, Harold A. Carter, Hugh McCoach and William Lattery, who were found on the premises.
