LONDON, March 31. Sidney Fox, who was sentenced to death for murdering his mother at an hotel at Margate, is not appealing. It is understood that an effort is being made to commute the sentence on the grounds of Fox’s mental condition. At the Royal Drawing Society’s exhibition at the Guildhall, the following awards were gained by New Zealanders: First prize, R. Hamblin, B. Morling and C. Saxby (Napier Girls’ High School); L. Smith (Hamilton Road, Wellington). G. McGuire (Auckland) gained a silver gtar. Mr MacDonald informed Commander A. R. Southby in the House of Commons to-day that the Government adhered to its determination to arrive at a five-Powcr naval agreement, and not an agreement between - two or three of them.
