CHINESE OUTRAGES
TERRIBLE ATROCITIES, COMMUNISTS RUNNING WILD, MAGISTRATE BOILED IN OIL. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright.) Received April 2, 10.50 a.m. SHANGHAI, April 1. Terrible atrocities are reported from the Kiangsi province, where Communist irregulars are running wild, terrorising the countryside. After capturing the town of Yanchow, 150 miles south of Hangkow, the Communists seized the Magistrate of the town and boiled him in oil. Other prominent residents were cruelly tortured. Three foreign missionaries were carried off.
The Government forces appear to be inadequate to cope with the situation, so the foreigners are hurriedly leaving Yanchow.
