BETTER SELLING METHODS. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, March 25. The conference of visiting English farmers with representative New Zealand producers to-day was so extremely pressed for time, owing to the number of interesting speeches of a general character, that several important and informative papers on farming topics oould not be read, but full copies were provided for the visitors. The remits were discussed with brevity for the same reason, but there appehrs to be a prospect of a particularly important development following the adoption of a resolution, on the motion of Mr W. J. Poison “That this conference of farmers from different parts of the British Empire recommends that a convention of farmers representing all parts of the Empire should be held, say, once every two years to discuss the problems of the farming industry throughout the Empire with the view to co-operative action where such a course is possible.” .This motion is coupled with the decision to promote a within the Empire conference of farmers in South Africa in 1932, and it is clear that the main objective of the gathering would bo the promotion of closer relations with the view to more rational disposal of the surpluses in farm products. Mr A. V... Alien, a South African delegate, has several times in New Zealand stressed the importance of this question and to-day ho declared that there should be no competition between the various units of the Empire, but rather that there should be co-operation in regard to improved methods of marketing and so on. If they could fix consistent price®, they would receive great benefit.
