BOXING DISPLACES CABARETS
Because patrons, especially women, are surfeited with cabaret turns practically identical with hundreds of other AVest End night clubs, the AVintergarden Club, says the London AVeekly Dispatch, lias inaugurated a series of professional boxing contests for gold cups and other prizes, wherein the combatants must put up a vigorous exhibition, specially aiming for a knock-out.
The manager says that the spectacle is attracting far more women than the cabarets. “I suppose there is something’primitive in woman which is held fascinated by exhibitions of skilled force,” he said.
