CORBRIDGE STARS. A match for the Corbridge Stars was played on the Northern lawn yesterday afternoon between Mesdames Tapp and Dickel (holders) and Mesdames C. Bryan and E. Gillott. A closely contested game was won by the holders by 2G —23. DANNEVIRIvE CROQUET TOURNAMENT. CHAMPIONSHIPS TO PALMERSTON NORTH. The final stages of the Southern Hawke’s Bay croquet tournament were reached yesterday. The competition had been favoured witlr good weather throughout and the interest in the play was sustained right to the last stroke. The ladies from Palmerston North gave a good account of themselves, the Southern Hawke’s Bay championship, the championship singles and the handicap singles being won by them. The concluding results were: Southern Hawke’s Bay championship.—First draw, semi-finals: Mrs Simpson (Palmerston North) defeated Mrs Glass (Dannevirke), 2Q —24; Mrs Gambrill (Palmerston North) defeated Miss McFarlane (Palmerston North), 2G —5.
