ARCTIC EXPLORER.
Dll. COOK RELEASED ON PAROLE. Received March 8, 1 p.m. OTTAWA, March 7. A report from Montreal states that Dr. Cook was released on parole today after serving five of a fourteen years’ sentence. Ho is allegedly penniless, having sworn a pauper’s oath in order to escape the twelve thousand dollar fine that was imposed with the sentence. Dr. Cook said to-day: “I hardly believe I shall go to the Arctic again. 1 am getting old and I doubt if I could endure the terrible cold.”
