GIVEN A CHANCE.
ADMITTED TO PROBATION. * Sidney Thomas Nelson Nesbit, who pleaded guilty in the Police Court yesterday to four charges of theft, was admitted by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to two years’ probation when he appeared for sentence this morning. His Worship said that he had before him the probation officer's report, which was not altogether favourable.’ Accused was evidently not fond of work, and had associated with people of bad character. However, there was nothing against him, and the Court proposed to give him a chance. He would be admited to probation on the condition that lie repaid the money stolen, within a month.
