FLETCHER SHIELD RETAINED. By tiro narrow margin of three points Manawatu retained the Fletcher Shield on Saturday, defeating Terrace Find, the challengers, by 86 points to 83. Four rinks from each club participated, Terrace End winning threo of tho games. Radford’s rink saved the situation for Manawatu by defeating Anderson with a margin of nino points. Members of the Palmerston North Club visited Woodviile on Saturday, six rinks participating in a friendly game. The visitors won by 132 points to 128. Results are as follow, Palmerston North skips’ names being mentioned first:—Crump lost to Aim; Morris lost to Peasson, Ramsay beat Nicholas, Skoglund beat Mules, Ross lost to Curry, Spencer beat Horne. INTER-CLUB MATCH. The southern portion of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, consisting of the Levin, Shannon and Foxton clubs, has sent a challenge to the Palmerston clubs to play a match at Levin on Saturday next at 2 p.m. The president, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., has arranged for the following clubs to take part in the match: Palmerston North Manawatu and Terrace End (2 rinks each), Takaro and Northern (1 rink each). WELLINGTON v. MANAWATU. The Wellington Bowling Centre will play a match against the Manawatu Centre on the Palmerston green on Wednesday, February 26 at 2 p.m. Advice was received that five rinks would be coming, but from later information received the number will be increased. Definito information will bo received to-day. The local executive will meet at 10 a.m. to-morrow morning to select the rinks.
