FLETCHER SHIELD RETAINED. By tiro narrow margin of three points Manawatu retained the Fletcher Shield on Saturday, defeating Terrace Find, the challengers, by 86 points to 83. Four rinks from each club participated, Terrace End winning threo of tho games. Radford’s rink saved the situation for Manawatu by defeating Anderson with a margin of nino points. Results of the games are as follow, Manawatu rinks being mentioned first:—Royal, Cutler, Mason, Corbridge (skip), lost to Childs. Thomas, Cope, O’Shea (skip) 18 —22; Shand, Oxenham, McDonald, Radford (skip) beat Madden, Litchfield, Williamson, Anderson (skip) 23—13; Temple. Low, Kershaw, Barnes (§kip) lost to Knowles Weekes, Smith, Jones (skip) 22 —23; Kennedy, Bates, Karton, Spooner (skip) lost to Baldwin, Helsby, Allen, Duncalf (skip) 24 —25. Six rinks of Feilding bowlers visited Palmerston North on Saturday afternoon and played a drawn gnme against Northern, the match ending Ij.B points all. Two rinks from Terrace End paid a visit to the Takaro green on Saturday, each club scoring 33 points. Davidson (skip) 25—10; Lyall, Needham, Howley, Tantrum (skip) lost to Smith, Follas, Sparrow, Wood (skip) 8 —23. HARRIS GOLD STARS. A Takaro rink consisting of Gray, Ivey, Morgan and Littlejohn (skip) secured the Harris Gold Stars on Saturday, defeating the holders (Palmerston North) Shelly, Child, Kerslake, Wilson (skip) by 213 —13. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS. The following Palmerston North rinks will play off for the champion of champions title. —Kerslake, Arnott, Patou. Crump (skip) Ross. A. Pickering, Skoglund, G. Wilson (slup); A. Wilson. E. Spencer, Brown, Rainsay (skip); Holdaway, W. Jones, Fraser, Bary (skip). PALMERSTON NORTH DEFEAT WOODVILLE. Members of the Palmerston North Club visited Woodviile on Saturday, six rinks participating in a friendly game. The visitors won by 132 points to 128. Results are as follow, Palmerston North skips’ names being mentioned first:—Crump lost to Aim; Morris lost to Peasson, Ramsay beat Nicholas, Skoglund beat Mules, Ross lost to Curry, Spencer beat Horne. INTER-CLUB MATCH. The southern portion of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, consisting of the Levin, Shannon and Foxton clubs, has sent a challenge to the Palmerston clubs to play a match at Levin on Saturday next at 2 p.m. The president, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., has arranged for the following clubs to take part in the match: Palmerston North Manawatu and Terrace End (2 rinks each), Takaro and Northern (1 rink each). WELLINGTON v. MANAWATU. The Wellington Bowling Centre will play a match against the Manawatu Centre on the Palmerston green on Wednesday, February 26 at 2 p.m. Advice was received that five rinks would be coming, but from later information received the number will be increased. Definito information will bo received to-day. The local executive will meet at 10 a.m. to-morrow morning to select the rinks.
