CHARGES OF THEFT.
MAGISTRATE DEFERS SENTENCE. Pleas ot guilty were entered by Sydney Jame.s Nelson Nesbit when he appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, on four charges of theft. It was alleged that on February 2, at Auckland, he stole a suitcase pair of shoes, pair of trousers, valued at £5 4s, the property of Thomas Alfred Tremewan; that he stole £2, the property of Emily Northrop; that he stole a bathing suit, pair of suspenders, tie and collar, valiued at £1 17s, the property of John ,George Norden; and that on February 12, at Palmerston North he stole 10s, a pair of shoes, tobacco and paireVs valued at £2, the property of Albtlrt Edward Grossi. Senior-Detectivlp Quirke stated that accused was 213 yeiars of age agd came of respectable 1 parents. Nothing was previou.'Jj' kntown against him, and he had not helpii involved in any trouble. Ho was living at a board-ing-house in Aucklaind and was out of work. Being short otf money, he committed the thefts. to Palmerston North hev stayed with a friend and appropriated further Articles. \ His Worship remanded\ accused until 10.15 a.m. to-morrow, pending the report of the probation offider.
