COAIPETITIONS FOR CUPS. On Saturday tho Palmerston North Gun Club held its first shoot for this vear. In tho sixth round of the Stubbs Cup results were as ‘ollow: —- Peter Aleehan, with 10 birds, won, and w. W. Cook, with nine, took second money. B. lv.. Thomson shot eight. Tho next event was for the Cook Cup being a 10 bird handicap shoot, which was won outright by C. A. Rogers. Nines were shot by J. Dunlop, Peter Aleehan, W. W. Cook and H. Collinson. The third event was a 10 bird sweepstake, which was won by C. E. Brown after a shoot-pff with AV. AV. Cook, five extra birds being shot. J. Dunlop shot eight. An enjoyable • day’s shooting was brought to a close with a box sweep, all of 24 vards and resulted in a win for C. A.' Rofe, with Peter Meehan second.

The next shoot will be held on March 8, when the seventh round of the Stubbs Cup will be shot, also two trophy shoots.
