FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. The Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows held its usual fortnightly meeting in the Cuba Street Hall on Thursday evening, when tlie N.G., Bro. AVallace, presided over a large attendance. . The sick visitors’ report wns received with thanks. Threo candidates were initiated into the lodge and the order, Bro. Christiansen acting as conductor. An invitation was accepted to play the Court Manawatu Lodge carpet bowls on Monday evening, February 24. A letter of recommendation was passed to Bro. Eave, who is leaving the district. Visiting members were accorded lodge honours, the visitors suitably replying. After the lodge closed a dainty supper was served bv the sisters present, after which the Oddfellows’ songsters entertained with songs. Three candidates were proposed for membership.
