Mr P- F. Warner, who is impressed with the youth of the Australian eleven, has published in to-day’s issue of the Morning Post his choice of an English cricket side, the qualifications for which is that none ■ has ' attained the age of 28 years. The men he has selected are: —Allen, Mitchell, Hammond,. Larwoo’d, Ames, Duleepsinhji, Robins, Killick, Peebles, Crawley and Voce, and their average age is 23. Thus this young England has not four batsmen equal to Ponsford, Kippax, Bradman and Jackson." • Warner says that it will be admitted that Hammond is the greatest of either side and Duleepsinhji comparable with Jackson or, Bradman. England’s bowling, with Voce, Robins and Peebles, is definitely stronger. SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH. BRISBANE, Feb. 3. In the Sheffield Shield match, , Victoria versus Queensland, Victoria in the first innings made 313. Ryder (168) gave ; a couple of. difficult' chances, but

otherwise batted forcefully and saved his side. Hurwood took 4 wickets for 88, Hornibrook 3 for 87 and Thurlow 2 ’for 50. Queensland in th© second innings has 2 down for 74—Benstead 53 not out. .
