DROWNING AVERTED.
YOUTHS RESCUE YOUNG LADY. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. A young nurse, Miss Calder, had a narrow esoipo from drowning while swimming at St. Clair Beach. When one hundred yards out sh-3 was seen to throw up her arms, signalling for help. A youth, Richard Coxon, swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow.. Another youth, Ivan Turnbull, swam to their assistance with a life line and battling against the strong current the three got ashore exhausted. Miss Calder, on recovering, said that she would have been drowned but for the youths’ promptness and courage.
