[Published by Arrangement.] PEGDEN’S FURNITURE DISPLAY. A wonderful exhibit of furnituro is shown by Pegden’s. This famous firm has lived up to its reputation and produced furniture that is a triumph of craftsmanship, design and finish. In a room set apart for dining room furniture is shown a dining table in the refectory style with carved and fluted mouldings, a magnificent piece of work. In keeping with it is a sideboard of ample dimensions and imposing appearance, with chairs to match neat and comfortable, the whole blending into a suite which should please the most fastidious. Ihe room showing bedroom furniture strikes the new note of modernism. The beauty of the wood which in this case is walnut, is shown to perfection, and here ag a ' n superb craftsmanship and simple dignity appeals to lovers of good furniture. Ihe large wardrobe with its beautiful markings, the twin beds, Tolboy pedestal and lastly the very striking dressing table, is all beautifully matched up. The room, carried out in green shot with gold, is effective and certainly out of the ordinary, and Moears Pegdens are to bo congratulated on their efforts to give something that cannot be seen every day. The section showing drawing room or lounge furniture is full of captivating examples of desirable pieces. Beginning with the upholstered suite in silk damask, the loose cushions are filled with finely sired and tempered springs, tho backs are cushioned, the filling, of which, is real ( down. A more luxurious suite couldn t be imagined. There are two mahogany China cabinets that are worth inspection, the ample inside space showing pieces oi silver, China, etc., to the best Advantage, combined with fancy tables, cushions, carpets, lamp standards, etc.; the whole exhibition is • credit to Pegden s and *° Palmerston North. All their productions are made in their own factory. While only high priced goods are shown on the stand, Pegdens are equipped to furnish the cottage or the mansion.
