MARRIED HIS TYPISTE.
_ 74-YEAR-OLD MILLIONAIRE. The Lancashire millionaire cotton millowner, Mr William Birtwistle, aged ; 74, who is the possessor of more looms than anybody else in the world, was quietly married to his 20-year-old , auburn-haired typiste, Miss Edith Stevenson. Mr Birtwistle bought a j special license, but kept the date of J the wedding secret, even from his fianoee. He told her the evening before the ceremony that he had arranged it for next morning. He went to the mill as usual and walked unnoticed to ■a neighbouring church where only the clergyman and the verger, the bride’s parents and the bridosmaid, one of Mr Birtwistle’s daughters, witnessed the ceremony. They went straight to London and spent the afternoon visit-, ing the motor show.
