MAIN HIGHWAYS.
IN DANNEVIRKE COUNTY. At the monthly meeting of the Dannevirke County Council, a letter was read from the Main Highways Board forwarding authorities for maintenance work on .Napier-Welling-ton (via Wairarapa) highway (£1039 16s Id), Dannevirke-Waipukurau (via i*orangahau) highway (£l9O 8s lOd), Ongaha-Mangatoro Valley highway (£lO2 4s lid), Wood-ville-Tamaki highway (£219 17s 9d), and Napier-Wellington (via Wairarapa) highway (£1338 13s 4d). The board also gave provisional approval of the following grants for the current year, the Main Highways Board share being given in parentheses:—Sealing second coat between Matamau, Manga-tewai-iti and Pukeora deviation, £3229 (£2153); sealing deviation, £330 (£220): Manawatu bridgeNorsewood School £I3OO (£867); Manawatu hill, £1625 (£1083); Mangatewainui bridge and deviation, £BOOO (£2QOO on account), widening for seal, £2OO (£100); Tapuata Stream bridge, £730 (£486); Orua-Kiritaki bridge and approaches, £3IOO (£2561): widening and straightening Mangatera bridge, £4361 (£2OO on account).
