The Feilding Old Boys Club wrote notifying its inability to field teams in the “sudden death” competitions and asked that the club’s entries be cancelled.—The club had originally a team in each of the senior and junior competitions. The secretary mentioned that the fixtures committee had been advised and the fixtures drawn without the Feilding Old Boys teams being included. The Feilding Old Boys Club also notified that ifs junior fifteen would default to West End Old Boys on Saturday.—Received, notification having been forwarded to the West End Club. The Old Boys Club wrote stating that its junior fifteen would experience some difficulty in fielding a team on Saturday as a result of sickness, injuries and other reasons. As five of the club’s third grado players had been selected to take part in the representative match, Manawatu thirds v. Wellington fourths, it was asked that Spring and Moffatt be released from their representative engagement in order that they could assist the juniors. Mr Hatch, the selector of the third grade representatives, stated that while he would like to assist the Old Boys

Club, he was desirous of having the assistance of Moffatt at least, and he wished to field as strong a team as possible for Wellington fourths were invariably strong. On the motion of Mr Pagan, seconded by Mr Clevely, it was decided to leave the matter in Mr Hatch’s hands to come to some arrangement with the Old Boys Club. GENERAL. The secretary reported that the Wanganui Union had accepted September 11 for the match, Manawatu thirds v. Wanganui thirds, at Wanganui. The date was accordingly accepted, Mr R. E. Hatch being appointed manager of the local team. The arranging for transport was left in the hands of the secretary. Permission was granted the Old Boys thirds to play Athletic (Wellington) intermediate grade at the Showgrounds on September 14, a ground to bo allocated later.

Mr Eglinton mentioned that there was a prospect of the Kaierau Club, Wanganui, the champions of that district, being desirous of playing the Old Boys’ Club, the local champions, for the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield. Owing to there being some doubt as to when a date would be available, the arrangement of the fixture was left :n the hands of the clubs concerned. As the direct result of Feilding Old Boys’ seniors withdrawing from tire "sudden-death” competition, it was decided to make next Saturday Charity Day at Feilding. El XT CUES FOR SATURDAY.
