GIRL CYCLIST INJURED.
TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Aug. 27. Rene Kinnamont, aged 18 years, was knocked off a cycle and seriously injured last night by a motor lorry which overtook her when riding homeward at dusk. The girl waß found , later in an empty house formerly occupied by her family, half a mile from the scene of the accident. She told a story of being picked up by the driver of a closed car, but apparently she had a confused recollection of riding some distance in a lorry. It is thought that the driver of the lorry let her down at the gate of the deserted dwelling, believing that to be her home and that the girl was not badly hurt. She was later admitted to hospital and is believed to be suffering from a fractured skull. The driver did not report the accident to the police and early reports suggested the utmost callousness, but later information dispelled the suggestion.
