SLIP ON ROAD.
MUCH WORK STILL TO BE DONE. Per Press Association. CARTERTON, Aug. 26. The top slip on the Rimutaka hill is still uncleared. The Public Works Department’s foreman states that it will be hardly possible to open the road till Thursday. Considerable blasting has yet to be done before the road can be termed safe. Sei vice cars cannot run owing to the prohibition against transhipping passengers. No traffic is allowed near the scene.
