MAJOR J All VIE’S SEAT. Received August 26, 11.30 a.m. SIDNEY, Aug. 26. As soon as it meets next month Parliament will be asked to declare vacant the Ashfield seat, which is occupied by Major Jarvie. The Government reached this decision during the week-end. It was announced by Mr T. R. Bavin last night that the Government’s action follows the steadfast refusal of Major Jarvie to resign following the finding of the Royal Commission into the bus bribery case in which Major Jarvie was implicated.
