FALSE PRETENCES.
DOCTORS VICTIMISED. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Aug- 26. Frederick Emanuel Simmis, anas Grey, alias Reid, was sentenced to 12 months’, imprisonment on a charge ot false pretences. He represented himself as a wealthy farmer and obtained lodging and treatment at two private hospitals from two doctors. When arrested, he was examined by.the gaol surgeon, who pronounced liim to be quite well. Accused, who has 12 previous convictions, was discharged from Mt. Eden Gaol in June. He was described as an habitual criminal and an arrant fraud.
