FUNCTION AT SCHOOL. KOPANE, Ang. 24. •Parents of the children were invited by the headmistress (Miss Pattle) to an afternoon at the Kopane School on Thursday, when an enjoyable function was held, and afternoon tea was served by the senior girls. School songs were given and a number of the pupils recited. A soldiers’ dialogue was rendered by the following small boys: W. Dawbin, L- Parsons, Allen Hill, Edward Tutty, Terry O’Regan and Ronald Winters. Another playette was “Old King Cole,” and A. Thomson, J. Thomson, W. Dawbin, H. Marbin, E. Tutty, J. Bennett, M. Dorset, G. Dorset, L. Parsons, A. Hill and R. Winters performed splendidly. On Friday, Athol Arnott and Bob McLean, left for Wanganui with the primary schools’ representative football team. , , ~ The weekly euchre tournament held by the Social Club attracted a fair attendance, and the prize-winners were Mrs C. Liggins and Mr. R. A. Buchanan. Consolation prizes went to Miss M. Liggins and Mr S. Wood.
