MUCH HECKLING
HON. A. J. STALLWORTHY’S SPEECH. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Aug. .23. Hon. A. J. Stalhvorthy spoke in a very loud voice in the Budget debate to-day and received an unusual amount of heckling from tlio Opposition and Labour members. Mr Jones complained thnt he was reading his speech. Mr. Stalhvorthy said that he wes only refreshing his memory from notes. As be proceeded and turned over the pages, a member called : “Next page. Mr Samuel suggested that Mr Stallworthy should get his jokes printed (Laughter). “Have a look at this, said Mr Samuel, holding up a United Party placard. Mr Stalhvorthy said that he was glad the lion, member had put up something before his face; it’was now much more pleasant to look at. (Laughter). Mr Samuel: When I put it up, I haven’t to look at you. Mr Stalhvorthy spoke under a running fire of comments i nd many calls of order from the Speaker. “HARVEST THE PROFITS YOURSELF !” Don’t lot others forestall you in patenting those ideas of yours.
