M.C.C. TEAM’S VISIT.
SKETCH OF ITINERARY. SEVENTEEN MATCHES PROPOSED CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. Arrangements in connection with the proposed tour of Australia and New Zealand of the M.C.C. team in the
next season were discussed at a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council. A circular which will be sent to the various associations in the Dominion states that the visitors would commence their tour of New Zealand at Wellington, the first match being against Wellington on December 13. The programme was entirely dependent upon the matches set out being all taken up by the associations named. The estimate of the cost of the tour was approximately £6600. Receipts were estimated as follow: Four major association matches at £376 each; ten minor association matches at £125; and three New Zealand matches at £375. This would provide a total sum of £3875, leaving a balance of £272,5 to be made up from an excess profit'on the three New Zealand matches and from the Australian matches. The M.C.C. team, states the circular, promises to be a strong one, and representative of the Old Country. The council confidently trusted that all associations would co-operate in making their financial arrangements speedily, so that preliminaries regarding the tour could bo finalised as soon as possible. As far as Australia was concerned, New Zealand had been promised 75 -per cent of the takings, including stands. It was on account of receiving such favourable treatment that the council was able to invite the M.C.C. team to New Zealand.
