At the meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union in Wellington on Friday Mrs Poison made a moving appeal to the division to help the women of the earthquake area. She read a letter from Mr Black, M.P., for Motueka, who had recently been down there, and who said that what was needed in many oases was to get the women and children right away for a complete change. Many women had been so nerve-racked with the continuous shocks that they were in a state or nervous collapse, and every woman knew that the only cure for such was a complete change. Mrs Poison, therefore, appealed to all members to go back to their branches and find out how many people would be willing to offer the hospitality of their homes for a few weeks to these women and children. The Government would supply the transport, so there woulQ be no expense, but what was needed mostly was kindness and hospitality. The president, Mr Jackson, endorsed what Mrs Poison said, and told some incidents of what had happened in Christchurch. The meeting readily agreed that the division offer hospitality to as many as possible, and a committee, consisting of Mesdames C. C. Jackson (Wairarapa), Medeser (lnver-
