Originally, the breach of the rules was brought to the notice of the council by a loxton delegate —a formal protest not having been entered by tho Fioxton Club —and, when the protest was finally lodged by the club direct to the Manawhenua Union, it was deemed advisable by the latter body to secure a report from the Horowhenua Council on the matter. Head until the beginning of the 1932 season for striking an opponent after a mtch. On Saturday, during tho game, Marist v. Binaries, Head, a member of the Pirates team,-was ordered off for striking a Marist player. After the game the player struck approached Head to express regret for the incident, extending his right hand in token of friendship. Head struck him in the face, knocking him down. The union took a serious view of the case.
