SLUGGISH RIVER DRAINAGE BOARD.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Re Government subsidy to this board for unemployed relief, from the report in your issue of the Ist inst., it would appear that Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., assisted the board to obtain the above grant. This was not the case. Mr Nash, very kindly interviewed the authorities to hasten the formalities, in the interests of the unemployed, so that the work could be gone on with, and all praise is duo to Mr Nash for his assistance to the unemployed. I wish to state that it was through the good offices of Mr J. Linklatef, M.P., that the board was enabled to get the grant. Mr Linklater arranged all matters in connection with the interview of the authorities, and very materially assisted the board in the matter, and the thanks of the board are due to Mr Linklater for all the trouble he lias been to in this connection.—Yours faithfully, FRANCIS J. FOSTER, Chairman.
