The frionds of Mr D. Hcggie will regret to hear that ho is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, it being neecs»arv for him to go under an operation. Mr A. Eggleton, junr., is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. He has been operated on for appendicitis and is progressing favourably. The annual tea in connection with fat. Barnadas’ Sunday School took place in the hall on Friday evening, though the weather was wet, thero was a good attendance of scholars and parents. r ull justice was dono to the good things provided, after which a social evening .was spent in games, songs and competitions. The competition prizes were won by Ihelma Rosvoll, Jack Burton, Miss G. Ranson, Irene Turner, Eileen Hill, Harold Begby, Mrs Harries and M. Anderson. During the evening Rev. Mr Kempthorno referred to the school work carried out by the teachers which was a labour of lovo for tho Sunday school. Ho also referred to the departure from the district of Miss W. Ranson who had dono good work during tho many years sho had been connected with the Sunday school, and on behalf of the teachers and scholars ho presented her with some zylonito ware in appreciation of her services and as an expression of their best wishes. Miss Ranson suitably responded. A pleasant evening was spent, being brought to a close with tho singing of the National Anthem. The local third grade football team had a runaway victory on tho recreation ground on Saturday against West End Old Boys. Tho first spell was fairly even. For the visitors J. Towler scored and converted, and for tho Bunnvthorpe team L. True', J. Reid and C. Hyde scored. The second spell was all in favour of tho homo team and tries were scored by F. Burton. W. Powell, E. Duthie (2), W. Sutherland, M Thomas and E. Houghton, of which W'. Sutherland converted five. ' On Sunday afternoon a reunion of the Bible classes of tho Methodist Church district took place in tho Bunnythorpe Methodist Church when Rov. F. J. Parker gave an address on Bible class work.
