LICENSING COMMITTEE.
ANNUAL MEETING HELD.
A SATISFACTORY REPORT
The annual meeting of the Palmerston Licensing Committee was held at noon to-day, Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., presiding. With him on the Bench wero Messrs A. J. Graham, W. F. Durward, W. R. Birnie, C. N. Clausen and J. M. Johnston. The police report indicated that the hotels in the licensing district had been conducted satisfactorily, no complaints being made. No objections were raised to transfers or renewals, and it was stated that all requisitions had received attention.
Permanent transfers wero granted for the Junction Hotel, Longburn (L. C. H. Sparrow to Thomas Ormesby); Devine’s Empire Hotel (J. A. Donne to William Devine) ; Post Office Hotel (F. B. Pattersron to J. A. Donne). New publicans’ licenses were granted for Devine’s Empire Hotel (W. Devine), Junction Hotel (Thomas Ormesby), Post Office Hotel (J. A. Donno), Central Hotel (Isaac Sykes). Applications for renewal of licenses were granted in respect of Tucker’s Club Hotel (H. B. Tucker), Grand Hotel (E. Barnes), Railway Hotel (W. J. Wareham), Commercial Hotel (Mrs A. Clarke), Carlton Hotel (J. L. Bennett) ? New Royal Hotel (G. A. Luoni), Family Hotel (Mrs M. Stonehouse), Masonic Hotel (F. I. Colvin), Imperial Hotel (F. J. Swindell), Cafe de Paris Hotel (F. J. Bobbington), Midland Hotel (T. J. Grace), Princess Hotel (S. W. R. Evans). Renewals of wholesale licenses were granted Messrs Tucker Bros., Barraud and Abraham, Ltd., Goldingham and Beckett, Ltd., and Johnston and Co.
