CRASH OVER BRIDGE.
MOTORIST’S LUCKY ESCAPE. WHANGAREI, June 9. To crash into the railings of a bridge in his car and fall 12ft. on to the gx-.a-vel bed of a stream below was the experience of an Auckland commercial traveller, Mr Robert Penman. He escaped injury. Mr Penman was approaching Carrutli s Bridge on the Maunu Road when he swerved to pass a woman on a horse and to avoid striking another car which, had also swung out. The steering gear locked and his car swerved right across the road. The impact smashed down the bridge railings for 10yds., and the car, a new five-seater roadster, was considerably damaged.
