CONSERVATIVE LEADER RETIRING. “artificialTlimotions.” (Australian Press Association). Received June 8, 11 a.m. OTTAWA, June 7. Mr R. B. Bennett, the Conservative leader, is reported to be fed up with his job. His emotions are obviously artificial as liis leadership has faile.-f to capture the popular imagination as its age increases. It is reported that his pet ambition, harboured ’ for many years, is growing upon him. He longs to adorn the British Parliament. His private fortune runs into many millions. It is expected that, after the next election, Mr Bennett will leave Canada and wind up his career in the Mother Parliament. SASKATCHEWAN ELECTIONS. Regina reports that, for the first time in 24 years, the Conservatives have obtained a lead in the Saskatchewan provincial election, yesterday obtaining 26 seats to the Liberals’ 23, Fanners’ 5, and Independents 4. There are three doubtful 6eats.
Mr H. J. Latta, provincial secretary to Mr C. M. Hamilton, Minister of Agriculture, was defeated.
