TOKOMARU.

(From Our Own Correspondent). TOKOMARU, May 27. Miss B. Mackenzie has returned from the South Island to resume school duties. Mrs F. Wagliorn and family, have returned to their home in Wellington. Mrs J. Dalziell is visiting relations in Manakau. Miss P. Forsyth leaves during the week for college in Wellington. Miss It. Wilton 'has returned to her home after a visit to relations in the north. Mr Cheer is at present visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs A. Cheer. Mrs J. Kennard is tho guest of Mr and Mrs S. Kennard. On Saturday the Foxton third grade footballers played the Tokomaru team on tho local recreation ground, tho result being a win for Tokoniaru. Thcaigh the weather was very wet, a fair crowd of interested sports turned out to witness the game. Tokomaru started off with the rain in their faces, but as the teams were eventy matched tho play was mostly about midfield. Tokomaru pressed hard and carried the ball to tho twenty-five and, for Foxton being off-side, a penalty kick was awarded. John Young kicked a goal. Tokomaru 3, Foxton ml. On play being resumed Foxton got possession and took tho ball well within view of their goal. A. Williams (Tokoniaru) tried to centre, but owing to tho greasiness of the ball it skidded and Foxton scored, but failed to convert. Foxton 3, Tokoniaru 3. In a very short time Jim Young scored and John Young converted. Tokomaru 8, Foxton 3. Shortly after halftime was sounded. On resuming tho rain bad stopped, but a cold wind was blowing. Play was up and down tho lino with both sides pressing hard at times. At about this time J. Matthews (Tokomaru) and McCarthy (Foxton) wero ordered oft' the field ' for obstruction. From about midfield Tokomaru secured and, with some very neat passing, M. Sherman scored, but owing bo the awkward angle John Young was unable to convert. Tokomaru 11, Foxton 3. Shortly afterwards the final whistle was blown with the scores: Tokomaru 11, Foxton 3. Mr M. Coile was the capable referee.
