SHOW ACCOMMODATION.
(To tho Editor.) Sir, —May we, through the courtesy ol your publication, make an appeal to the public of Palmerston North for accommodation for visitors to the National Dairy Show from the 18th to the 22nd June noxt. The position is this: In addition to the usual influx of visitors to this event, a special farmers’ train is to arrive in Palmerston North on 19th Juno containing visitors from Otago and Southland. These people will be entertained by tho Manawatu A. and P. Assocation during their stay hore, and arrangements will have to be made for beds for them for one night. The majority of hotels are already full, and what are not will be insufficient to accommodate these 300 farmers and their wives. It will, therefore, be necessary to find private accommodation for them. It would never do for any of our visitors to leave Palmerston North with the impression that hospitality was lacking. You will recognise that this is a matter which affects the city as a whole, and not merely the A. and P. Association. In .this direction, also, material assistance is being given to the Railway Department who are organising tho excursion. We should bo glad if any person who would be willing to take one or more of these farmers for the night of the 19th June would communicate with the A. and P. Association’s office, ’hpone 5455. The visitors are quite prepared and expect to pay for their accommodation, and we are not asking for charity on their behalf. With very best thanks for your space for this matter and trusting the letter will have the necessary effect.—We are, etc., J. LINKLATER, M.P., President. _ A. J. GRAHAM, Mayor, Vico-Prcsidont, ,W. T. PENNY, Secretary.
