RESIGNATION OF DOCTOR.
MEDICAL CLUB. V WHANOAREI, May 17. The resignation was received by the Whangarei Hospital Board this week of Dr. Hutson, medical officer at Waipu. It was reported that the Waipu Medical Club owed £SOO to the Hospital Board, and it was thought that no meeting had been held for several years. The secretary was ill and the president had also been ill for some time.
The board decided to discontinue the responsibility, and to make no further appointment until after a committee from the board had visited Waipu and ascertained whether the club intended to carry on. Mrs Donaldson said she questioned, now that such good roads were available, whether a resident doctor was necessary at Waipu, but Mr J. D. Mackenzie instanced the case of people living in the backblocks where there were no roads.
