ASHHURST.
On Thursday; evening a number of her friends visited tne residence of ■Mrs Hardie, tvho is leaving shortly for the Wairarupa where she will reside yvith her son,. Mr T. Hardie. As a token of the esteem in which Mrs Hardic is held by her friends, she was presented with an eiderdown. Mrs W. S. Maunder, who made the presentation, conveyod the good wishes of all and expressed tho hope that Mrs Hardie would enjoy better health in her new home. Musical items were rendered by Miss Hills (songs) and Miss Evelyn Trass (pianoforte solos) and a pleasant evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Mrs Hardie hag resided in Ashhurst for over 20 years and enjoys a wide circle of friends. Although her health has presented her from taking an active part in the church and social affairs of the town during recent years, Mrs Hardie lias nevertheless maintained her interest in them. While Mr and Mrs C. Larsen were in Pahiatua on Wednesday evening, their residence at.ltaukawa was completely destroyed by fire. The 1 building was insured for £9OO and the contents for £2OO.
